15/08/2008:
David Brook was the hero as Burley won the Macca Floodlight Twenty20 Cup by eight wickets against Baildon in a superb final at Wagon Lane on Thursday evening. Brook struck the next to the last ball of the match for six to win the match in the grand manner as Burley successfully chased down Baildon's formidable 227 for six. The only regret he must have had was not reaching a deserved century - he ended the match on 99 not out.
Earlier, Baildon appeared to have put the game out of reach with their large total which owed much to a memorable innings of 117 from opener Matthew Duce. The acting captain struck 12 sixes and six fours and reached his 100 in only 46 balls. Duce received good support from Tabassum Bhatti and Ahsan Butt, who each made 40. The total seemed to be beyond Burley, but Brook and Australian Jason Wright from Tasmania had other ideas. Wright made 85 off 48 balls and, when he was out, Brook took the lead in the bid for victory.
Burley's effort seemed to be falling short when they needed 55 to win from their last five overs and, although Brook kept them in the hunt with some well judged hitting, it was still a tall order when 32 were still required off the last two overs. However, 21 runs came off the 19th over and when Bradford & Bingley's captain Phil Slater, who was guesting for his former club, came to bowl the last over 11 were needed. Burley still required four to win off the last two balls, but Brook removed all doubts by hitting the fifth ball for six over mid-wicket to complete a thrilling run chase. In all, he struck six sixes and nine fours. The three day tournament which also featured Keighley and Macca's team, comprising mainly Bradford & Bingley players was held in aid of Bingley all-rounder Richard McCarthy's testimonial. It was voted a success despite the wet weather.

14/08/2008:
Baildon beat Keighley by 41 runs in the semi-final of the Macca Twenty20 Floodlit Cup competition at Bradford & Bingley's Wagon Lane ground. They will meet Aire-Wharfe League side Burley in tonight's final (7pm) (Thursday).
Baildon lost key batsmen Ian Philliskirk and Simon Duce cheaply and were struggling at 43 for six before they were rescued by a seventh wicket stand of 71 between Johnny Reynolds (42) and Stuart Lemon (43) and totalled 135 for nine. Ross Towler (2-21), Alex Towler (2-20) and Dale Towler (2-20) each took two wickets for Keighley. Keighley, without prolific batsman Richard Robinson, lost wickets regularly and never seriously threatened Baildon's total as they were bowled out for 94 in 19 overs. They needed a big stand like Reynolds and Lemon staged for Baildon, but it never materialised. Ross Towler top scored with 17. Andy Walker (2-10), Chris Reynolds (2-26), Tabassum Bhatti (2-8) and Johnny Baines (2-18) each took wickets for Baildon.
The three day tournament is being staged in aid of Bingley all-rounder Richard McCarthy's testimonial. McCarthy will be a guest player for Burley in tonight's match.

13/08/2008:
Players braved the rain as Burley beat Macca's Star X1 by six runs in the first semi-final of Macca's Floodlit Twenty20 Cup at Wagon Lane. The three day tournament is being held in aid of Bingley's long serving all-rounder Richard McCarthy, now in his 19th season at the club.
Guest player Stuart Hudson from Silsden top scored with 40 off 25 balls in Burley's total of 132 and received good support from Jamie Davy 23 and Shannon Tubb 19. Bradford & Bingley captain Phil Slater was the most successful bowler for Macca's team with four for 19 while Will Briggs took two for 23, David Clow two for 27, McCarthy one for 12 and Matthew Cockshott one for 23.
Macca's All Stars fell six runs short on 126 for five with Scott Etherington top scoring with 37 not out in 26 balls while Carl Sharp made 28 and guest player, Undercliffe opener Mark Gilliver scored 23.
Hudson completed a fine all-round performance by taking two 12 while Matt Pinniger took two for 26.
